# Install the tracker

> Drop the snippet on your site so events start flowing in.

Every property has exactly one web pixel. Soran creates it for you — one
property is one site, so there is nothing to set up and no second pixel to add.
All that is left is putting the snippet on your site.

> [!NOTE]
>
> On Shopify, skip this page. Your storefront reports through the theme app
> embed instead. See [Connect your store](/docs/get-started/connect-your-store).

## Paste the snippet

**1. Copy the snippet**

Open **Settings → Tracking**. The snippet is shown with your property's
credential already in it, so copy it from there rather than writing it by
hand.

If the page says there is no snippet yet, reload it — that is what creates
the pixel.

**2. Add it to your site's head**

Paste it into your site's `<head>`, **before any other script that reports
events**. Order matters: a script that fires a conversion before Soran has
loaded is a conversion Soran never sees.

**3. Load a page**

Your first pageview appears within a minute. Visiting your own site counts,
so you do not need to wait for a customer.

## Confirm it worked

**Settings → Tracking** shows the pixel's status next to a count of events from
the last 24 hours. The count is the part that matters: a healthy status with a
zero is a claim without evidence.

If you have pasted the snippet and nothing is arriving, open [Event logs](/docs/reports/event-log). The
distinction there tells you where the problem is:

* **An event appears but was rejected.** It reached Soran and something about it
was wrong. The log says what.
* **Nothing appears at all.** It never arrived. The snippet is missing, blocked,
or below another script that failed first.

## Turning collection off

The **Collecting** switch on **Settings → Tracking** stops Soran storing what
this pixel sends. It does not uninstall anything — the snippet keeps firing and
Soran discards what arrives. To stop the requests themselves, remove the snippet
from your site.
